2014 Acura RLX Concept
Honda Motor Company releases first official photos for the new concept 2014 Acura RLX. This concept sedan model will be revealed in 2012 Los Angles Auto Show .
2014 Acura RLX Concept will be powered by a new 3.5-liter VTEC V6 direct-injected engine which can produce maximum 310 horsepower. The RLX Sedan concept had a hybrid drivetrain featuring the V6 engine, plus a pair of electric motors, with a seven-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission sending power to all four wheels. American Honda Motor Co. also confirmed that the RLX Sport Hybrid model will share the Sport Hybrid SH-AWD system.
Dimensionally, the new Acura RLX Concept is approximately the same length as the outgoing RL, but with a 2-inch longer wheelbase and 2-inch shorter front overhang. Both the track and vehicle width also increase by approximately two inches, which should translate to more room inside.
For the chassis, RLX sedan model gets double wishbone front suspension, multi-link rear suspension, active dampers and electronic power steering with a variable gear ratio. Despite all this, total weight should be less than 4,000 pounds for the front-wheel drive model.
New Acura RLX sedan will also get the next-generation Acura Link Communication system and the new Jewel Eye LED headlights that use a dual-stacked array of multiple high-intensity LED lamps, said Honda.
In the term of safety, Acura RLX will get high-tech features, including a collision mitigation braking system and the first application of Acura’s Lane Keep Assist system. Forward collision warning and lane departure warning will be standard equipment on the RLX. The RLX will get seven airbags, including a driver’s knee airbag. Acura boasts the car should achieve a five-star safety rating from the NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick from the IIHS.
Honda not yet announced the production detail, pricing and release date at this time. We expect will get more information about this 2014 Acura RLX Concept at 2012 Los Angles Auto Show on November 28.
