2013 Mazda MX-5 Miata Roadster
After announced GT and Kuro edition, Mazda Motor Corporation officially introduce facelift-roadster version named 2013 Mazda MX-5 Miata. MX-5 Miata roadster gets a mild update before the arrival of a successor sometime next year or in early 2014.
2013 Mazda MX-5 Miata Roadster powered with 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine which produce maximum 167 horsepower and 140 pound-feet of torque. The engine mated to either a five-speed or a six-speed manual transmission. The 158 horsepower version is also available with an optional 6-speed automatic transmission.
For body design, MX-5 Miata receives weight reduction program by redesigning of new parts including the front bumper, new 17-inch aluminum wheels, an active bonnet, and internal wiring. There is also some exterior upgrade includes larger front grille opening, a newly designed front fog lamp bezel, and a new front chin spoiler. This model also offering a new Dolphin Gray Mica exterior finishes, which replaces the Metropolitan Gray Mica.
In the interior, we will find a genuine leather seat covers combined with black on the seat sides with a new tan color. As an option, customers can also opt for leather (tan and black), fabric (black), and a combination of black leather and Alcantara seat cover materials. There is also a new Glossy Dark Gray used for the steering wheel bezel and decoration panel.
In the term of safety, 2013 Mazda MX-5 Miata Roadster features an active bonnet that ensure that, at certain vehicle speeds, when sensors detect an impact exceeding a specified level, the rear end of the bonnet is raised. This creates a space between the engine and the bonnet which acts to absorb the energy of impact and reduces the severity of head injuries in collisions involving pedestrians.
2013 Mazda MX-5 Miata Roadster hit the Japanese market in Juni 2012, while for US market will be available before end of this year. Price will start from 2,330,000 yen or about $29,000 in current exchange rate.
