2012 Volkswagen Taigun Concept
Joining the new Gol three-door, German Automaker Volkswagen also introduced the new Crossover concept named 2012 Volkswagen Taigun Concept at 2012 Sao Paulo Auto Show. This model is based on Volkswagen’s Up! with tagline “Taigun” means “thundering herd” in Japanese.
2012 VW Taigun Concept will be powered bya 1.0-liter TSI engine that produces 110 horsepower (81 kW) and 175 Nm (129 lb-ft) of torque. With these power Taigun will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in 9.2 seconds and hit a top speed of 186 km/h (116 mph) and average approximately 4.5 L/100 km (52.2 mpg US / 62.7 mpg UK).
The Taigun is stand on 17-inch alloy wheels with 205/50 R17 tires, painted in a breezy “Seaside Blue” and Yellow exterior color finish and was designed using the latest VW design DNA. It measures 3,859 mm long, 1,728 mm wide, and 1,570 mm tall with 985 kg (2171 lbs) of total weight.
Other highlights include a prominent grille, a ventilated hood and bulging fenders. There’s also a two-piece tailgate, LED spot lights and hidden rear door handles.
On the interior, the new Taigun Brazilian Concept offers a simple and spacious design (headroom is 1,036 mm in front and 980 mm at the back), with controls pared back to a minimum. The front air nozzles, for example, not only individually control the direction of the air flow, but also the blower speed and the temperature, which is displayed within the nozzle. Meanwhile the central infotainment system can pair with the majority of smartphones, providing an intuitive interface. Above this are mounted auxiliary instrument gauges that display oil pressure, coolant temperature and turbo charge pressure.
There are no plans to import a production version of the new 2012 Volkswagen Taigun Concept to the U.S market.
